And The Winner Is....Drum Roll Please

We were completely overhelmed with the response to yesterday's contest entries for your favorite holiday traditions.

We received 8 responses on our blog - but our email was literally FLOODED with entries. We giggled at some and admired the thoughtful creativeness of others. Some made us reflect on our Christmas and Holiday's past as we remembered family members we have lost through the years - recognizing just how wonderfully precious families are. A HUGE thank you to everyone who participated!

A winner has been randomly selected from our enteries:

Every year, we go into the woods behind our house and find our very own "Charlie Brown Christmas tree"--sparse branches and all. We decorate the tree with lights and beautiful ornaments that we have made from years past (we save them and add 2 or 3 additional homemade ornaments each year). We do put up a 'real' tree later..but this little tree kicks off our fun for the rest of the month.

The day after Thanksgiving we decorate our house from top to bottom. The
kids get to decorate the tree anyway the want-which is usually pretty
interesting and a great conversation piece! Then on Christmas Eve we all
open one present each in front of the fire, share what we are thankful for,
and share a family memory from the past year. My kids are 21, 9, 7 (and 2,
but he doesn't get it yet). The things kids come up with! It's a
hilariously good time!

Growing up, our family always made homemade donuts on Christmas morning after the presents were opened, and now we do the same with our 2 boys. We have powdered sugar, glaze and cinnamon sugar and to be honest, i am suddenly really looking forward to that

My favorite holiday tradition is going to the Macy's store display on the 3rd floor downtown. Each year, there is an animatronics display that is quite extensive. This year, my family and I saw "A Day in the Life of an Elf," which was fabulous!

My favorite tradition is simply attending Christmas Eve candlelight service with my family, acknowledging our blessings, and returning home to enjoy the anticipation of what the next morning will bring.
