We Have A Winner!!

We received some wonderful recipes yesterday. We suddenly found ourselves so hungry. YUM! Some of them literally made our mouths water just reading them! We randomly select #27 and our 27th entry was....

COME ON DOWN....

D'ANNE KELLY

We've selected your EASY HOLIDAY TRUFFLES recipe!

You've Just Won A $50.00 BabyOutfitter Gift Certificate!

Here's D'Anne's Recipe:

*************************************************************************************
EASY HOLIDAY TRUFFLES

My kids and I enjoy making these every year, they are so easy and DELICIOUS
and make great gifts. Nothing says "I care" more than handmade goodies
during the holidays.........

2 1/2 pkg. (20 squares) Baker's Semi-Sweet Chocolate
8 oz. cream cheese, softened

Melt 8 chocolate squares. Beat cream cheese with mixer until creamy; stir
in melted chocolate. Refrigerate until firm. (Option: a few drops
peppermint extract to make chocolate mint truffles)

Shape into 36 balls. Place on wax paper-covered tray.

Melt remaining chocolate. Use fork to dip truffles; return to tray.
Decorate with finely chopped peanuts, sprinkles, chopped peppermint, etc.
Or coat with powdered sugar or cocoa power instead of dipping in chocolate.
Use your imagination here and have FUN. This is where the kids have a
blast! Put finished product in mini-cupcake foil liners. Refrigerate 1
hour before indulging. Keep leftovers cool.

For gift giving, place truffles in a decorative box or tin.

We'll be emailing your your coupon code shortly! Thank you to all who particpated in the Favorite Holiday Recipe Contest. Here are a few of the recipes we had permission to post.

Coupon Code Trouble?

Good Morning Everyone!

Coupon Codes can be tricky. We've had a couple customers email us to let us know the coupon code DAYOFF was not working. We checked it out and it is functioning. However, since there are a couple factors that cause this pesky trickiness - we thought we would provide a couple reasons why it may not work at the time of checkout.

1) The code DAYOFF is case-sensitive so you need to enter it in all caps as shown. If it's entered in lowercase or upper and lowercase, the system will not recognize it and will not apply it to the order.

2) After entering the coupon code where it says ENTER COUPON CODE - the Blue REDEEM box needs to be clicked - once you click REDEEM, it will automatically continue the order process to the next step. It's easy to overlook the REDEEM button, especially since the CONTINUE box is just below - but this will cause the code to not work.

There may be other reasons we are unaware of. But, these are the two main reasons the coupon code may not stick. We apologize to the customers who were having trouble with the code. Don't give up Girls!

Visit the site - and save 30% until midnight tonight!

Holiday Deal # 8 - The Maids Take A Day Off!

Phew...it does sound really nice doesn't it? A day off? As moms (parents) it seems like there is always something going on, something to be done, someone who needs something. The holidays are no different - actually there are MORE demands placed on us during these last few weeks of the year. Those extra activities seem to eat up so much of our time. And, more often that not, we don't even get to truly enjoy these activites because there are so many of them. Am I right? Plays, parties, get-to-gethers, etc.

Well, sadly, we here at BabyOutfitter can't give you a day off. But what we can give you is a cheaper, faster and much easier way to pick up a few things on that long list this season. We're hoping we can save some of you ANOTHER trip to the mall, ANOTHER battle for the last parking space, ANOTHER rude retail clerk - OH THE HORROR!!

In this spirit of helping our fellow moms, dads, parents, grandparents this holiday season, we're proud to usher in HOLIDAY DEAL #8! We're really digging deep into our pockets this time to offer our customers 30% off all product purchases!! We've never given that much of a discount on our products. But, we know times are tough and some of customers are struggling more than ever this year to afford to put gifts under their tree.

We know we don't have XBOX games and IPODS. Our products don't email or text but they do bring joy to children and to their families.

We have videos - sit and watch a video with your little one(s) this holiday. Pop some popcorn and snuggle under a blanket with them. For nearly less than a tank of gas - you can pick any one of our family favorites.

We also have great books - when was the last time you dropped everything to sit with someone precious to you and read them a great little story - or helped them read it to you? Browse our children's book section for tremendous deals on books for all ages.

To take advantage just enter DAYOFF in the coupon code section during checkout. Your 30% discount will be deducted from your total. It is case sensitive (so please enter it in all caps) and does not apply to shipping charges. And since we are so late getting this out - we're going to extend the savings through DAY # 9! We have a special treat for tomorrow - more to come on that so be sure to check back.

We truly appreciate each and every one of our customers and we wish you a safe and happy holiday season!

Until next time -

We're A little Behind - Day # 5 & Day # 6 COMBINED

Since we were completely slammed with orders yesterday and this morning, we weren't able to get the HOLIDAY DEAL for DAY # 5 FIVE GOLDEN RINGS up in time. So we have elected to combine it with our DAY # 6 DEAL

So without further delay - For our combination DAY #5 and DAY # 6 promotions we are giving two deals in one:

10% off your product total AND Free Shipping on all orders. Simply enter COMBO56 in the coupon code section at checkout and the discount will be applied to your order.

For those customers who earned the Traditions $5 off your order reward for Day # 3 - you may use this in conjunction with the current promotion. HOWEVER...since there is only one option for a coupon code during checkout - you'll want to apply the current code of COMBO56 and mention the discount code for the $5 Tradition reward in the comments section. We will be sure to issue a credit to your account for the $5 amount.

We've added new products to most of our categories - you should find lots of great deals! Don't forget the books, toys and videos!

We hope you are enjoying the contests and promotions! We are very busy. But, we are certainly having a lot of fun with them so far.

Could Someone Get The Door?

That's a phrase heard often here at the office - we're constantly shuffling boxes out to the postman (well, postWOMAN in our case). But, there's never been as many boxes as there are this morning! What a fabulous surprise!

We've managed to dig ourselves out from under the pile of priority mail boxes and pages of packing slips to thank all of our wonderful customers for the absolutely amazing response to yesterday's contest. We nearly beat out our record day of sales in all our five plus years in business - we missed by just $82.00!!!

What we thought was most interesting is that the majority of the orders were all less than $25! We thought for sure someone would purchase a bunch, in the hopes their order would be selected. Apparently, we don't have any gamblers shopping the site. :o)

We had trouble with the random generator this morning, so we stacked and shuffled all the orders and pulled one out of the stack.

CONGRATULATIONS TO CORRINE MCSPEDON!!

SHE IS TODAY'S WINNER - RECEVING A COMPLETE ORDER REFUND OF $26.24!

Corrine has won our drawing and will receive a complete refund on her entire order! Thank you to everyone who participated by placing an order. We are obviously dealing with a larger volume of packages than normal. However, we will be updating each and every customer with the current status of their order by the end of the day today.

Stay Tuned For The Day 5 Deal!

We received 8 responses on our blog - but our email was literally FLOODED with entries. We giggled at some and admired the thoughtful creativeness of others. Some made us reflect on our Christmas and Holiday's past as we remembered family members we have lost through the years - recognizing just how wonderfully precious families are. A HUGE thank you to everyone who participated!

A winner has been randomly selected from our enteries:

CONGRATULATIONS TO

Thank you again to everyone who participated. Below are a few of the submissions with names removed for privacy.

Every year, we go into the woods behind our house and find our very own "Charlie Brown Christmas tree"--sparse branches and all. We decorate the tree with lights and beautiful ornaments that we have made from years past (we save them and add 2 or 3 additional homemade ornaments each year). We do put up a 'real' tree later..but this little tree kicks off our fun for the rest of the month.

*************************************************************************************

The day after Thanksgiving we decorate our house from top to bottom. The
kids get to decorate the tree anyway the want-which is usually pretty
interesting and a great conversation piece! Then on Christmas Eve we all
open one present each in front of the fire, share what we are thankful for,
and share a family memory from the past year. My kids are 21, 9, 7 (and 2,
but he doesn't get it yet). The things kids come up with! It's a
hilariously good time!

*************************************************************************************

Growing up, our family always made homemade donuts on Christmas morning after the presents were opened, and now we do the same with our 2 boys. We have powdered sugar, glaze and cinnamon sugar and to be honest, i am suddenly really looking forward to that

*************************************************************************************

My favorite holiday tradition is going to the Macy's store display on the 3rd floor downtown. Each year, there is an animatronics display that is quite extensive. This year, my family and I saw "A Day in the Life of an Elf," which was fabulous!

*************************************************************************************

My favorite tradition is simply attending Christmas Eve candlelight service with my family, acknowledging our blessings, and returning home to enjoy the anticipation of what the next morning will bring.

The newest thing isn't always the BEST thing! DVD vs. VHS

Several years ago when DVD's hit the scene, I started to worry that my huge collection of children's videos on VHS would soon be obsolete. So, just like many parents out there I'm sure, I decided to sell off all my videos at a huge loss at garage sales and such thinking no one is going to want these when then can buy DVDs - the newest and supposedly BEST thing.

Well, as a mom of four with two children under 5, I have come to realization that I goofed! I used VHS videos for years with my two older sons. They could easily operate the VCR and I don't believe I ever had a VHS tape damaged by them. However, after purchasing numerous DVDs in last several years and entrusting them (foolishly) to my daughter to playon the tv in her room - many turned up scratched, snapped in half and otherwise totally unusable.

Obviously, I have come to the conclusion that for preschool aged children, VHS tapes are the way to go. And, with other families selling off their children's videos for steal, VCRs for sale in retail chains for $20 or so, you can't go wrong. No need to worry about scratched and ruined dvd's...and you'll save tons of cash entertaining your child.

For those of you who have DVD players in your family car, I say...stick with the dvd's in the car and play the videos at home. DVD's will take up less space in your car and won't be warped by the heat. VHS tapes can easily be stored with you children's books and cost just pennies on the dollar compared to the DVDs.

We've added a number of children's video son VHS, from Pooh and other Disney Favorites to Dr. Seuss to Pokemon to Pandas! Some of them are still sealed in original packaging. For new babies, we even feature Baby Einstein Videos. Feel free to check out our Playtime section to browse through the newest additions.

Thanks for stoppin' by!

Reading with your children - Gently Used Books

Most of you already know BabyOutfitter is a great source for quality gently used children's clothing at afforable prices. But, did you know that we also offer gently used Children's books as well? We feel very strongly about reading to/with younger children. The benefits of spending one on one time with your children, learning and sharing about the stories is absolutely one of the best gifts you can give your children. Books are expensive - especially the trendy ones.

We have made it our mission as of late to pursue a greater selection of stories, characters and themes in our book department. We have focused on toddler tough carboard books for the younger kids and some wonderfully illustrated story books for the older ones.
Yesterday we posted over 25 gently used children's storybooks in amazing condition. You can check them out here www.babyoutfitter.com/index.php?cPath=36. We've priced them affordably - most of them are between $1.99-$3.49. Those are incredible savings over cover / retail prices.

With hectic schedules and dual income families, mom's are busy these days. Many of our books are shorter in length but still offer the same opportunity to share a book with your little cuddlebug. Give them a hug and read to them today!

Home Sweet Office

After about six months of moving pieces, shifting inventory, installing shelving and storage, we are finally ready to call our cute little office HOME. (Well, our home away from home I should say.)

We've had customers ask us if we are a home based business. Well that answer is - yes and no. I started BabyOutfitter.com nearly five years ago, running it out of my home and garage (storage area). Over the years, we've grown so much that operating the business out of my home was becoming more and more difficult. There were new additions everywhere...toys, books, clothes, shoes...you get the picture.

We decided that in order to continue to grow the business and maintain family sanity, the best move to make would be getting an office or similar facility to house the inventory and provide a decorating excuse we like to call "the office." So all in all it was a win/win. We found an office that was perfect for our needs less than a mile from the house...and I had a reason to shop for, dare I say, something besides baby items. (Insert Shocked Face Here)

Today I thought I would start a little tour of our facility with our front door. We thought it might be fun to share some more behind the scenes pictures and stories in the upcoming posts. So stay tuned....

Until next time -

Do you have any requests for certain items? Or, maybe requests for more of others? We make every effort to shop with you (our SUPER customers) in mind. So, if you don't see it and you need it...just ask for it! We'll do our best to track it down - whatever it is!

We're Listing Today..and listing...and listing...

Happy Tuesday to everyone!
Here's a couple of the items we have listed on the site today. We're loading both boy and girl items today in most sizes. The stacks seem to be never-ending! Good for all of you...not so good for our typing fingers.
We've been working since this morning matching photos and getting the items in so they are available for purchase. We'll check back in later. Back to work.

New Changes to Item Pictures

We are trying out some new features with the photos within our listings. The goal is to have the pictures reflect a better a quality image of the items. We are confident that the process will allow you all to get a better - more up close - look at each and every item. After all, since you can't touch and feel the items, you want the best look at them you can get, right?

You may notice that we did try out the blue background on some of our listings. Well, you voiced your opinion and we have to say that we agree. So, we will be sticking with the white backdrop. We feel it represents the true color of each item and is much easier on the eyes. If time permits, we will go back and retake those images with the white backdrop.

So, going forward, we'll be taking extra special care to ensure that the photos listed on the site are the best possible quality we can provide. Thanks for being such amazing customers and helping up become the biggest and best children's resale site on the net!

Drowning In New Inventory - Send Help!

Well, we're kidding about the sending help part. But, not about the drowning part...we are up to our ears in new items.

We took a few minutes out of process today to snap a few photos to give all of our customers a little sneak peak at our incoming inventory for this month. We have both boy and girl items for every size, books, toys, shoes and accessories to load. Lots of adorable dresses and tons of shorts and summer items - just in time!

As most of you are already aware of, we take great care in washing and preparing our items to list. Each and every items is laundered, pressed if need be, checked for any "issues" such as spots, stains, missing snaps/buttons, rips, etc.
