I've always loved studying American History. One of my favorite president's by far is Abraham Lincoln - there was a sort of sadness to him, a true hero I guess. And I couldn't be happier that our current President is acknowledging what a man Lincoln was and what he did for this country! I hope that I can add President Obama to my list of favorites as well. He's certainly got his work cut out for him. God Bless the USA!!

Facts about Lincoln:
Lincoln was almost entirely self educated and became a lawyer although he never attended college.
Lincoln is credited with preserving the Union during the Civil War as well as beginning the process to end slavery in the United States.
Lincoln is remembered for his strong character and dependence on God's wisdom.
President Lincoln's domestic policies included his support for the Homestead Act allowing poor people from the East to acquire land in the West.
Lincoln also signed the National Banking Act which established a national currency as well as created a network of national banks.
